(Please see St. Stephen’s Monthly Calendar for daily services for August) The Parish Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday August 12that 8 PM in the Church Hall. -On July 6th 2008, our Church eagerly awaited the visit of our Father in Christ, His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP to our newly constructed church complex. His Eminence presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and to elevate Fr. Stephen to the dignity of Archpriest. His Eminence also ordained David Alexander to the Holy Order of Diaconate. AXIOS! The Very Reverend Fr. Joseph Allen, Fr. Stephen, Archdeacon Hans El Hayek and Deacon Peter Boloukos assisted His Eminence during the service. Ted Mandalakis, gave an overview of the recent achievements of St. Stephen’s and presented Fr. Stephen with a beautiful new vestment. Lou Kattas spoke about the history of St. Stephen from its founding by converts to Orthodoxy 30 yrs ago, to the seven parishioners who over the years have gone on to lives of service to the Church. Fr. Stephen delivered a very moving speech which recounted the many “miracles” that led to the founding of Saint Stephen’s and thanked all who were a part of it, and especially Kh. Beba and their two sons, George and Paul. This wonderful event concluded with an inspirational challenge by Metropolitan PHILIP to continue on our path of growth in Christ and His Church. Many thanks to Brian and Christeen Scarpa, for chairing this event and to all the people who cooked and worked behind the scenes to make this event a great success. -Fr. Stephen wants to thank you all for your generous gift. The new vestment is really beautiful. May God bless you all. -Our condolences to the Lotfalla family for the loss of Maher’s mother Angelle in Egypt last month. May her memory be eternal. -Our condolences to the Elzahr family for the loss of Michael’s brother Samir in California. May his memory be eternal. - Our condolences to the Salloum family for the loss of Lina’s Aunt Nadima in a car accident in Syria. May her memory be eternal. Please approach the Holy Chalice “In the fear of God and in faith and in love.” -Gift certificates from Shop Rite, A&P, Pathmark & Macys are available. Please see Claude Zaki. News from Our Women Group: -I trust that we all can find the time to pray to the Mother of God as we approach the Theotokos Fast and the Dormition Feast, and to thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the many blessings we share.
