The Saint Stephen Church is
an Antiochian Church under the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of
North America led by His Eminence The Most Reverend Metropolitan PHILIP, Primate
of the Archdiocese.
The Parish serves the
spiritual needs of all Orthodox Christians.
Saint Stephen’s is a
Pan-Orthodox Church that welcomes all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds. The
services are in English.
St. Stephen’s is located at
609 Lane Ave. in the beautiful town of South Plainfield. The Church and the
Church Hall are handicap accessible. The original Church, established in 1978,
was a 20’ X 20’ building donated by Frank Wrubleski our next door neighbor. The
building was originally a chapel built by his mother who vowed to build a chapel
for the Lord for the safe return of her three sons from the Second World War.
Over the years, the Church
bought the back property from our next door neighbor for future expansion, and
purchased a rectory right next to the church.
In 1997 a 30’ X 60’
building with a basement was added to the existing structure. Right now the 20’
x 20’ original building is divided into a Sanctuary & Church Office, while the
30’ X 60’ addition is divided into Church and Church Hall. The basement is used
now for Church School and to host social events.
Fr. Stephen Tewfik was
assigned to the Parish in June 1998. He is married to Kh. Beba and has two sons,
George and Paul, ages 23 and 21 respectively.
Fr. Stephen and the whole
Parish of St. Stephen welcome all who come to worship with us.
